Breaking Bad actor Bob Odenkirk is expected to recover after he collapsed on set with a heart-related problem, his son has said.

Odenkirk was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after falling ill on the set of Better Call Saul in New Mexico.

In the hours after his collapse, Odenkirk’s son Nate tweeted an update on his condition, saying: “He’s going to be okay.”

The actor remains in hospital, but his management said that he was in a stable condition and will recover.

It said: “We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart-related incident.

“He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side.

“The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”

Former Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston had earlier posted his support of Odenkirk, asking fans on Instagram to pray and “send positive thoughts” to him, while sharing a photo of the pair.

He wrote: “Today I woke up to news that has made me anxious all morning. My friend, Bob Odenkirk collapsed last night on the set of Better Call Saul… Please take a moment in your day today to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you.”

Odenkirk has been filming the sixth and final series of the Breaking Bad spin-off, in which he plays Jimmy McGill, a lawyer with questionable morals who takes on the pseudonym Saul Goodman.

The critically-acclaimed show has earned the actor four Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
