A 13-year-old boy saved his little sister from a kidnapping by using his slingshot to fight off the attacker.

Owen Burns took aim from a window when he heard the eight-year-old scream outside their house in Alpena Township, northern Michigan.

He initially thought she was “messing around” with friends, but threw down his video game and leapt into action when he heard her yell for a second time.

“So I looked out the window and saw her being abducted by a person and I’m like freaking out,” he told local network WWTV/WWUP-TV.

“I grab my slingshot and open the window and I grab two things – a marble and a gravel rock or something.”

His quick thinking gave his sister the chance to get away, and police said his “extraordinary” actions on 10 May might have saved her life.

“I was just lucky. He’s just a big target because he’s not like one Pepsi can,” said Owen.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with attempted kidnapping and other charges, and police said he had visible wounds from being hit in the head and chest.

Owen said he had to act, but that things could have easily turned out differently.

He told reporters: “If I wasn’t out there and I didn’t hear her scream, then she was gone.”
